Purposes for which we process personal data
The RBG processes your personal data to arrange taxes for water boards and municipalities. We also use personal data to implement the Valuation of Immovable Property Act (Wet waardering onroerende zaken (WOZ)). These are statutory duties of the RBG. We use some data to be able to better assist you, such as your telephone number and e-mail address.
Right to privacy
Everyone has a right to privacy. This is why the RBG handles your data in a careful and confidential manner. The RBG does not give your (personal) data to other organisations or individuals without your permission, unless the RBG is under a statutory obligation to do so. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) clearly stipulates how organisations must handle personal data. The RBG does not use your personal data for commercial purposes.
Your privacy at the counter and on the telephone
If you have any questions, you can call us, or you can stop by our counter (by appointment). We first ask for your citizen service number (BSN) and date of birth. We do this to better protect your personal data. Only then do we share confidential information. By doing so, we want to prevent the information from reaching people who are not entitled to it.
Some personal information we never give out over the telephone. This includes your citizen service number (BSN), date of birth, and address details.
If you call us at the general number 088 291 10 00, your conversation may be recorded for training and quality purposes. We delete this recorded conversation after 6 months.
We secure your data
The RBG takes the protection of your data seriously, and takes steps to prevent the following:
- abuse
- loss
- unauthorised access
- unwanted disclosure
- unauthorised modification
If you suspect that your data is not properly secured or that your data is being misused, please report this to privacy@derbg.nl.
We will keep your data confidential
RBG employees have a duty of confidentiality. Only authorised employees have access to personal data. The data protection officer monitors compliance with the statutory privacy rules.
Sharing personal data with third parties
The RBG provides your personal data to other organisations or individuals only when necessary for the performance of our statutory duties, a public-law duty or to comply with a statutory obligation.
Personal data on our website
If you enter personal data on our website, the RBG uses this data only for the purpose for which you leave it. For example, if you fill out the contact form we will use the personal data entered only to respond to your inquiry.
Personal data in our digital counter
If you use our digital counter (My RBG) and provide your telephone number or e-mail address there, we sometimes use your e-mail address and/or telephone number to contact you. For instance regarding questions or enquiries about:
- a submitted notice of objection
- a request for exemption
- a change communicated by you
- a payment agreement
If your telephone number or e-mail needs to be changed or deleted, you can notify us digitally via My RBG.
We adhere to the statutory retention periods
The RBG does not retain your personal data any longer than necessary. We adhere to the applicable statutory data retention periods.
Cookies
The RBG website uses cookies. These cookies do not track personal data, but do ensure a better technical functioning of the website. They also make the website more user-friendly, for example by remembering your preferences. Cookies allow us to see how many people visit the website,
but not who, nor which computer they use. Our cookies cannot read personal data from your computer, intercept passwords, or infect your computer with a virus. You can opt out of cookies through your internet browser settings. That will ensure that cookies are not saved anymore. In addition, you can also delete all information previously saved via your browser settings.
Your rights
You have the right to access, modify or delete your personal data. Do we need your data to carry out our statutory duty? If so, you cannot have your data deleted.
How do you exercise your right?
Please submit a request to the RBG. This can be done in writing or via privacy@derbg.nl. If you would like to access your data, please visit our office (by appointment). It is important that you can provide proof of identity. This can be done by bringing your ID card. It demonstrates that the data you wish to access, modify or delete is actually yours. You are not allowed to access other persons’ data.

If you wish to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP), you can do so through their website. You can only file a complaint if it concerns your own personal data, or if you are authorised to file a complaint on behalf of another person. On the AP’s website, you will find a form allowing you to file your complaint. It is important that you describe your complaint as clearly as possible and include any supporting documents. Modifications to Privacy Statement
