The RBG levies taxes on behalf of water and municipal authorities. You contribute towards the work that water authorities and municipalities do for you and others. Below, you can see what water authorities and municipalities do.

No. The amount in the bank account accrued from the energy allowance is not an asset.

Yes, that has been taken into account. Our appraisers base WOZ values on the prices of sold homes, among other factors. They check whether they can apply these prices and adjust WOZ values where necessary. In this case, they adjust the WOZ value downwards. They do this because the VCE share is not part of the property. This method applies to apartments and ground and upper-floor townhouses.

You cannot object if you own several WOZ objects that are connected to 1 sewer.You pay the owner’s sewage tax for any property that is directly or indirectly connected to the sewer.

Are parts of your property used as a separate whole? Then you will receive a separate tax assessment for each part.

The RBG has sent you a tax bill. Afterwards, the RBG sent you many letters. A demand for payment letter, a writ of execution, a final notice writ and a preliminary announcement of attachment of wages. The tax bill has not been paid in full as of today. This is why the RBG will claim some of your income to pay the due amount.

No. It does not matter how much waste you dispose of. Even if you only rarely dispose of waste, you still have to pay the charge. That fact that waste may be disposed is what matters.

We will look at sales prices of comparable houses that have been sold between 1 January, 2023 and January 1, 2025. Were no comparable houses sold during this period? The WOZ value does not impact the amount of your RBG tax bill.

We will consider the situation of the residence on 1 January of the current tax year. If the dormer is present on 1 January, then it is counted towards the WOZ value. We do use the price level of the previous year.

Yes, you are obliged to give us information that is important for the WOZ value. We will only use your data to determine the WOZ value. We will not give your data to third parties. We are obliged to maintain confidentiality. This is all set in the State Taxes Act.

This allows us to better determine the condition of the sold property. With this, we determine the WOZ value. The answers enable us to compare properties more effectively. To determine the value, we compare properties with similar sold properties. We take into account the differences between the properties. We obtain these differences from many sources, including the completed questionnaires.

The legal filing period is six weeks of the tax bill date. Do you need more time? You can file a draft objection already. You can send us the actual details later.

The social security number (BSN) is a unique personal number for everyone who is registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP). You can find your BSN on the following dutch documents: driver’s license, Passport , ID card, health insurance card and salary specification. The BSN replaces the old social security number and consists of the same series of figures.

The BSN is on the back of the driving license.

The letter states how the seizure-exempt threshold was calculated for you. This is the part of your income that we cannot seize. This part is at least 95% of the income support level. It is important that you check that the information in the letter is correct. Is something not correct, or is information missing? Please let us know as soon as possible.

Yes. A hearing means you explain your objection by telephone or in person. Do you want a hearing? Please send us a letter or email to ask a hearing. If we grant the objection fully, you will not need a hearing.

We receive the details of persons living on your address from the municipal authorities. If you come to live alone, Then we will automatically edit the details on the tax bill. You do not need to take any action.
Do you live alone, and you have received a tax bill for a household of more than one person? Please send an objection notice via My RBG.

Yes. The quickest way is in digital form via My RBG.

Do you rent a room with its own kitchen, toilet and bathroom/shower? Then the tax bill is charged to you. Do you share facilities with others? Then please send an objection notice via My RBG.

Are you still registered at this address in the municipal database? Then you should not send a notice of objection. We apply the details in the municipal database system.

Are you relocating within the same water control board area? Then you do not need to take any action. Please notify the municipal authorities of the change.
Are you relocating outside the same water control board area? Then please send an objection notice via My RBG. Send documents proving from which date you no longer make use of the home. For example a copy of the termination of your home rental agreement. Have you sold your house? Then send a copy of the key hand-over. Please notify the municipal authorities of the change.

The RBG handles the WOZ-value for the municipalities of Delft, Schiedam, and Vlaardingen. You can submit objections regarding these WOZ values to the RBG. The quickest way to do this is digitally through My RBG. Alternatively, you can download the Or use our appeal form WOZ and send it back to us. On the WOZ page, you’ll find more information about the WOZ value of your property.

If you wish to contest the WOZ value of your home in a different municipality, you should address your objection directly to that municipality, not the RBG.

Make sure to pay the tax bill in time. If the municaipality adjuste the value, they will inform the RBG. You will receive a refund for the excess amount paid.

The RBG sets the WOZ values for the municipal authorities of Delft, Schiedam and Vlaardingen. Only the person that the tax bill or the WOZ decision is addressed to, can file a notice of objection. Others may send an authorisation form of the relevant person.

This depends on the location of the building.

Owners outside the dyke system benefit from some of the water board’s general tasks . This is why they still pay for some of the water system levy. They receive a 75% discount on the water system levy. If you have not received this discount, you can submit an objection via My RBG.

This is not possible. Everyone benefits from some of the water board’s general tasks .. This is why everyone shares in the cost.

Only if you received a WOZ decision from the RBG. In your notice of objection, explain why you think the WOZ value is too high. You can calculate the maximum rent of your home on the ‘Huurcommissie’ website (the Lease Committee). It shows how a decrease in the WOZ value affects the maximum rent.

You may be exempted for some portions of some taxes. This depends on your diplomatic status. For more information, please contact the RBG at telephone number 088 291 10 00.
For some taxes, no exemption is granted. The municipal authorities or water board perform a service against payment of such taxes. This concerns the waste water treatment levy, the surface water pollution levy, the waste disposal levy, waste collection charges, sewage levy and municipal fees.

Within twelve weeks of the assessment date. This is the legal term for water board taxes. We can extend this period by 6 weeks. All rules are contained in Article 7:10 of the General Administrative Law Act. Do you submit your notice of objection 6 weeks after the assessment or later? You will receive a message within 6 weeks.

Different rules apply to municipal taxes. The RBG must do this before the end of the year. Have you submitted a municipal objection in the last 6 weeks of the year? Then the period is within twelve weeks of the assessment date. Do you submit your notice of objection 6 weeks after the assessment or later? You will receive a message within 6 weeks.

Please notify the municipal authorities of the change of address. The municipal authorities will inform us. We will automatically edit the details on the tax bill. You can submit a change to the correspondence address via My RBG. The Change of situation page shows all information.

Waste water treatment levy, Waste disposal levy and Sewage levy for users. For the other taxes, you pay for the full year. Even if something changed. You will not receive a new tax bill at your new address for those taxes. This is a national rule.

You can file a notice of objection. The objection page shows more information. Send evidence showing that you were no longer the owner as at 1 January.

Have you sold your house on a date other than 1 January? Then nothing changes. The situation as at 1 January determines the tax for the entire year. Usually, the notary public will charge the new owner for the portion after the transfer date. But this is not required or automatic. Have you bought a house on a date other than 1 January? Then you will not receive a tax bill for this house for that year.

No. That is not necessary. Please notify the municipal authorities of the change. The municipal authorities will inform us. We will automatically edit the details on the tax bill if necessary. Are you moving abroad? Then please send us your correspondence address. Was the deceased living alone? Then please send us an address for correspondence relating to this deceased. You can notify us by phone or in writing. If you call, we will ask for the BSN and the date of birth of the deceased.

2 ve (pollution units) is not possible. The law only distinguishes between 1 ve (pollution unit) for people living alone and 3 ve (pollution units) for 2 or more people.

You pay via direct debit. This is generally in 10 instalments. You have not yet paid all the instalments for your old address. We have adjusted the amount after you moved.

Are you moving half-way the year? This does not mean the tax due is reduced by half. Some taxes are charged for the entire year, for example the water system levy. You will not receive such taxes for your new address.

Some clients have received the tax bill later in the year. For this reason, the direct debit process was started up later in that year. The cycle will continue into the following year.

You have now received your tax bill for this year. This means that the RBG will collect amounts for both years for a few months.

If you paid instalments via direct debit in 2019, you are also set to pay instalments for 2020. Please use My RBG to see if you have paid off 2019.

The following documents for both you and your partner. Is something not applicable to you or your partner? Then you do not need to send it.

Study financing (basic scholarship, supplementary scholarship and study loan) all count as income. Income from student jobs also counts as income. The parent’s contribution is not counted as income. But we do need to know about it. Then we know how you pay for expenses.

The cost sharing standard applies if you share a home with one or more adults over age 27. In that case, we adjust the exemption calculation. This is because several people share the costs of the household.

We count the number of persons age 27 or older. The nature of your relation with them is irrelevant. As is their income.

The water control board aims to keep the waste water treatment levy affordable for everyone. If we grant people exemption, this is paid for by charging other people a higher tax. This is why we divide the cost over all users. If everyone pays their share, This way the costs are distributed fairly.

The RBG may not claim the amount of income below the Seizure-exempt threshold This is at least 95% of the income support standard. Is your income higher? Then your employer/withholding agent will withhold the difference. This is paid out to the RBG.

The RBG imposes over 99% of the tax bill in the course of the tax year. Some tax bills are sent at a later stage. We cannot send the tax bill until we have full information. We also check if we have sent all tax bills. Sometimes we see in such a check that we have to send an additional tax bill. It is unfortunate that you are confronted with this bill in arrears. However, the costs were incurred. The legislation offers the option of imposing the tax bill retro-actively.

The primary owner in the Land Registry Office’s system. If the same person also lives in the same home, the resident tax is also sent to this person. The municipal authorities determine the exact name stated on the tax bill. If the name is not correct, you can ask the municipal authorities to correct the name.

After a person’s death, his/her heirs are responsible for payment of the tax bill. The RBG adds ‘heirs’ to the person’s name on the tax bill. If the name is changed in the Land Registry Office system, the RBG can change the name on the tax bill. This is an automatic process. Were you the partner and also co-owner? Then you can request to change the name to your name for the next year.

If the home was allocated to your ex partner in a divorce, please notify the Land Registry Office accordingly. This is the only way to ensure that the RBG can change the name on the next tax bill. This is an automatic process. We receive the changed details from the Land Registry Office.

This depends on your personal circumstances. Living alone or not, home owner or not, value of the home, relocated or not. The RBG will send the tax bills in the following months

In some cases, you will receive the tax bill later. For example, if you are paying another tax bill in January/February by means of direct debit collection. Or if all of your information is not yet known. In the latter case, we sometimes levy the tax in two parts. You will then receive two tax bills. The first one is for the use of the home (waste water treatment levy and water system levy for residents). And the second one is for the property (water system levy for the owner).

For the following taxes, the situation as at 1 January is the tax basis for the rest of the year. 

The RBG aims to send 1 comprehensive tax bill per address. In some cases, these details are not yet linked. Sometimes one person receives the property owner tax and the other person receives the resident tax. Do you want to receive a comprehensive tax bill next year? Please notify us accordingly using the contact form. Please enter ‘the tax bill is addressed to the wrong name’ as the subject. Then choose ‘Other reason’. We will then address the tax bill to the person listed as the primary owner in the Land Registry Office’s system.

Sometimes we first levy the taxes for residents (waste water treatment levy and water system levy for the user). Followed by the taxes for property owners at a later time. This is because the information for the property (WOZ value) may not yet be known to us at that time.

Please return the tax bill. Write ‘return to sender / onbestelbaar retour’ on the envelope. Postage is not necessary. On the envelope, state the name of the new owner / user and the effective date. Do you know the new address of the previous user/owner? Please also write this on the envelope.

The RBG may designate the following persons as the owner:
A person who owns the property, or a person with a legal right. This may include usufruct, right of use and residence, building right, leasehold and apartment right.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. We will address the tax bill to the person listed as the primary owner in the Land Registry Office’s system as at 1 January.  This could be the owner, lease holder or usufructuary. The municipal authorities determine the exact name stated on the tax bill. If the name is not correct, you can ask the municipal authorities to correct the name.

Both the owner taxes and the user taxes are sent to the owner / lessor of the building. The owner receives the tax bill only if renting rooms. This is the case if the tenants are sharing the sanitary facilities. This could include the shower, toilet and kitchen. If you are the owner of the home and renting rooms is not an option in this building, then you can submit an objection via My RBG. Please list the tenants of the building. We will then send the tax bill to the tenants.

Yes. You can register at www.mijn.overheid.nl for this purpose. You will receive the tax bill in your message. This is the digital letterbox of the government. After registering, you can also view your tax bill in the MijnOverheid app (MyGovernment app). You can edit your private data only via mijn.overheid.nl. 

The Regional Tax Group (RBG) sends more letters digitally via the Berichtenbox. This applies to customers who have registered with www.MijnOverheid.nl.

Please register on www.mijn.overheid.nl And select the Regional Tax Group as an organisation from which you wish to receive digital messages.

No, the RBG will not send you any notification. Please register your email address with MijnOverheid. MijnOverheid will then send you a notification once the RBG posted the tax bill.

No. We need to make sure that the tax bill is received in time. Email delivery is not sufficiently reliable for this purpose.

This is possible only via the MijnOverheid app. This app takes you to the MijnOverheid message box. You can also access your digital tax bill from RBG here. Viewing or editing your private data is possible only when you log into mijn.overheid.nl. The assessment for the property tax can be viewed only via mijn.overheid.nl.
